- Global Health Area of Concentration

This mentored longitudinal curriculum includes a minimum of six weeks of international elective time with annual financial support for travel expenses. Participates will:
- Complete a community medicine project
- Attend at least one global health conference
- Make scholarly presentations
- Critically appraise global health literature
- Complete 25 hours of structured didactic learning including regular attendance at our monthly, integrated dinner seminar
Declaration may be accepted until January 1st of PGY2 year.

The initiative recognizes sustained commitment to global health learning through participation in at least one structured international elective opportunity and regular attendance at our monthly, integrated dinner seminar, or, by completion of the INMED (Institute for International Medicine) DIM& PH (Diploma in International Medicine and Public Health) during residency training.
- INMED Professional Diploma in International Medicine & Public Health - DIMPH

All residents have the opportunity to complete the INMED Professional Certificate Course in International Medicine & Public Health, Helping Babies Breathe, and Ultrasound for Primary Care courses taught annually at UPMC St. Margaret/Passavant. Completion of the Certificate course meets 50% of the didactic learning requirements of the AOC. The INMED Certificate may be combined with an international elective to qualify for a full Professional Diploma (DIMPH).

UPMC Family Medicine Faculty Development for Global Health Fellowship seeks to prepare physicians for global leadership in Family Medicine Education by building on established training in Family Medicine scholarship and education through international medicine, public health, cultural competence, and health care leadership training in international contexts. Graduates will be prepared to contribute to Family Medicine residency training and medical school departments in the US and globally.
