Osteopathic Recognition

The Family Medicine Residency received initial AOA accreditation in 2002. On June 30, 2020, our AOA-accredited program was transitioned to ACGME Osteopathic Recognition and single accreditation. For Osteopathic Recognition, all residents will have the opportunity to receive osteopathic training longitudinally through all 3 years in the form of didactic lectures and hands on training during dedicated OMT clinics. All three of our family health centers (Lawrenceville, New Kensington, and Bloomfield-Garfield) feature regular OMT clinics staffed by our osteopathic faculty members and residents. Additionally, osteopathic residents will have the opportunity for regularly scheduled OMT appointments during their continuity clinics.

All osteopathic residents will enter our program as Designated Osteopathic Residents but has the option to opt out per individual preference.
