UPMC St. Margaret is a 249-bed acute care and community teaching hospital with a physician Family Medicine Residency and Fellowship Programs. The Pharmacy Residency Program at UPMC St. Margaret is nested within the Family Medicine Residency. UPMC St. Margaret holds a leadership role in family medicine as one of the oldest and largest Family Medicine Residency programs in Pennsylvania. The residency program has earned national recognition for the quality of its training and the caliber of its resident staff.
Clinical pharmacy specialists are an integral part of the faculty of the physician Family Medicine Residency and Fellowship Programs, as well as the Pharmacy Residency Program, at UPMC St. Margaret. Clinical specialists and unit-based pharmacists at UPMC St. Margaret are incorporated into all aspects of teaching and patient care. UPMC St. Margaret has three Family Health Centers that are committed to improving the health of the communities they serve. Pharmacists, physicians, nurses, social workers, and other team members work collaboratively, caring for patients of all ages.

PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency
The postgraduate year one (PGY1) Pharmacy Residency, accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, provides the resident with direct patient care experiences in a variety of settings throughout the year, allowing for mastery of the applications of pharmaceutical care principles to practice.
PGY-2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency
The postgraduate year two Family Medicine Pharmacy Residency offers a two-year residency program in which the UPMC St. Margaret PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency continues to a PGY2 specialty residency in ambulatory care with special emphasis in Family Medicine.
PGY-2 Geriatrics Specialty Residency
The postgraduate year two (PGY2) Geriatric Pharmacy Residency offers a two-year residency program in which the UPMC St. Margaret PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency continues to a PGY2 specialty residency in geriatrics.
