Rick Alfera, MD

I am excited to be a part of the UPMC St. Margaret team as a family medicine resident who was born and raised in the city of Pittsburgh. For my undergraduate years at Miami University, I pursued a double major in Spanish and Chemistry. Following graduation, I embarked on a rewarding journey at Drexel University College of Medicine for my medical training, where I gained invaluable experiences, shaping my path toward primary care. My areas of particular interest include addiction and recovery medicine, HIV/Hep C care, underserved medicine, and advocating for healthcare equity. Outside of medicine, I am grateful for my friends and family and love spending quality time with them. Whether it might be exploring new restaurants or trying out a new recipe or two at home. Otherwise, you might find me running around the city of Pittsburgh or catch me diving into a game of pickleball or tennis.
