Schedule & Training Progression

Schedule

• 3  days a week + call (no more than 1 in 3 nights) with L&D team at UPMC Magee Women’s Hospital
• ½ day a week of FM clinic and ½ day a week precepting (at a UPMC Family Medicine office site)
• ½ day a week for the selective time that rotates Q2-3 months (examples include MFM clinic, OB u/s, D&C and LEEP in main OR, Diabetes clinic,  colpo clinic, Family planning clinic, Antepartum service)

Training Progression

Our fellows will start out managing complicated term patients in triage, L&D, and postpartum as well as doing primary cesarean sections.  Over the course of the year they progress to the management of preterm patients and repeat cesarean sections, and then management of the labor suite and STAT sections.  At the end of their year, they will spend time at one of UPMC’s community obstetric sites as the obstetric provider on call with attending backup.
