Richard Bruehlman, MD

Richard Bruehlman, M.D. graduated from Jefferson Medical College, then completed his family medicine residency at UPMC-St Margaret where he served as Chief Resident. He has over 35 years of patient care and teaching experience. Dr. Bruehlman has received multiple teaching awards including the Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians Exemplary Teacher of the Year in 2017. He helped to support the international development of family medicine through medical mission trips to Central Asia with "Physicians with Heart."

Professional activities have included serving as a family medicine expert in medical-legal proceedings and writing questions for the American Board of Family Medicine. His faculty duties include making sure all our residents pass the ABFM certification exam. He enjoys swimming, hiking, skiing, and bicycling. He and his wife Patricia McGuire, M.D. (who is also a faculty member) have two adult children, one of whom is a family physician.
