Michele Hilty

  • Director, Medical Education Department; Director, Graduate Medical Education Recruitment

I was born and raised in the eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh, Harrison City, Westmoreland County where I met and married my high school sweetheart. I graduated from ICM School of Business and achieved an internship in the Department of Medical Education in 1993 and have remained ever since!

Over my 28 years within Graduate Medical Education, I have managed administrative aspects of GME at UPMC St. Margaret from recruitment through retention including faculty support and development.  One of my favorites is managing the Fellowship programs in Primary Care Sports Medicine and newly formed Family Medicine Obstetrics.

The success of the residency rests on excellence in recruitment and retention.  Our program has over 500 alumni within the United States who have continued to help our program’s successful recruitment seasons.  Now, heading into my 29th year of Graduate Medical Education service, I work daily on the strategic and innovate methods to recruit candidates. I am certified by the National Board for Certification Training Administrators of Graduate Medical Education.

My husband, Scott and I have a second home on wheels and we love to travel. Especially to watch almost adult grown children, Ryan and Morgan, play collegiate soccer and softball.  Our favorite furry friend is our golden doodle Murphy.
