New Kensington Family Health Center

New Kensington Center, established in 2001, UPMC St. Margaret's newest Family Health Center is a full-service neighborhood health center with an emphasis on delivering high-quality family health care, integrated behavioral health, and community partnerships to a medically underserved and marginalized population.  At New Kensington, our providers practice full-spectrum family medicine. Our 9100 patient visits last year comprised 20% pediatrics, 65% adults, and 15% geriatrics, as well as prenatal care, group wellness visits, and behavioral health.

Community partnerships have been a big part of the success of the New Kensington Family Health Center. Collaborating with the Pennsylvania Department of Health and Adagio enables us to provide free family planning, STD screening, and treatment to our patients. Early childhood literacy programs evolved from collaborating with Reading is Fundamental PGH and Reach Out and Read.

Our integrated Behavioral Health Program began with a partnership with Family Services of Western Pennsylvania and has grown to include the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Social Work. Offering behavioral health services at our health center is a convenience for patients and alleviates the stigma much fear of seeking treatment for such personal issues.  Working within a multi-disciplinary team that includes physicians, pharmacists, social workers, nurses, medical assistants, and office staff we are able to meet both the behavioral and physical health needs of our patients and their families.
