Shreya Shivan MD

  • Family Medicine Resident

Hello, I'm Shreya! I was born in India but grew up in Tampa, Florida from the time I was 3 years old. I went to the University of Florida for my undergraduate education as a Biology major with a minor in Communication sciences and disorders. I then worked as an ophthalmology technician and surgical assistant before getting my masters in biomedical sciences at the University of South Florida. I completed my medical school education there as well, where I developed a love for community medicine, working as a clinic director at the local Tampa Hope homeless shelter.

In addition to community medicine, my interests in family medicine range widely from women's health, child and adolescent health, lifestyle medicine and medical education. I was drawn all the way from Florida to UPMC St. Margaret's because of the program's commitment to the community, strong women's health curriculum, and overall supportive culture.

In my free time, I like to read (mystery, thriller and romantasy/fantasy), consume insane amounts of caffeine and dance until my feet hurt. I have a passion for vintage/thrift shops, being anywhere in nature (especially any kind of body of water) and all living creatures big and small- I've fostered about 35 animals in my home!
