Biography

Ted C. Schaffer, MD, received his Doctor of Medicine degree and was elected to AOA at the Medical College of Virginia. He completed his family medicine residency at St. Margaret Memorial Hospital and has been on the faculty since graduation. Dr. Schaffer served as Associate Program Director for five years prior to his appointment as Program Director.

During his residency Dr. Schaffer was recipient of the prestigious Mead-Johnson Award for education in family practice. He has been the medical director of several managed care organizations in Pittsburgh. Sports medicine and orthopedics are areas of both special interest and multiple publications.

Dr. Schaffer is married and enjoys gardening, raising apples in his 20-tree orchard, and hunting for antique country furniture. His 4 adult children continue to bring great joy to his life, and he is now enjoying being a grandfather for the first time.

Board-certified family physician. Also certified in geriatrics and Sports Medicine.
