Family Medicine Residency Program

Third Year Curriculum

A further shift to the outpatient arena of the Family Health Centers results in each third year resident having four to five office sessions per week. A leadership position is now present, as third year residents head up the medical teams of the most challenging hospital rotations. With three additional months of elective time, the third year allows a resident to concentrate on his or her areas of special interest and begin final preparation for medical practice. A longitudinal Private Practice Initiative (PPI) for each resident provides weekly outpatient experience for each resident to further prepare them for their new role as full-time attending physicians.
